Biometric and identity technology testing services. Built around your security and performance goals

Ingenium provides independent testing and evaluation across four core areas of identity technology: injection attack detection, presentation attack detection, document authentication, and age estimation. For many organisations we work with, security assurance is only part of the picture. We also provide performance and bias measurement assessments that play a crucial role in protecting commercial interests, public perception, and brand reputation.

What we test, and why it matters

Injection Attack Detection

Injection attacks such as deep fakes bypass the sensor entirely. Rather than presenting fraudulent data to a camera, attackers inject  biometric data directly into the system’s data stream, silently, at scale, and without physical access to the device. Testing for injection attack detection means evaluating how well a system recognises and resists that class of threat.

Presentation Attack Detection

A presentation attack uses physical artefacts such as printed photographs, video replays, 3D masks and deepfake media, to deceive a biometric sensor directly. PAD testing evaluates how reliably a system distinguishes a genuine biometric from a fabricated one, using a diverse set of attack species ranging from basic instruments to highly sophisticated artefacts.

Document authentication

As fraudulent documents become more sophisticated and more widely available, the technology designed to detect them must keep pace. Our document authentication testing evaluates the accuracy, reliability, and security of systems designed to verify identity documents, from chip verification to image consistency, across a full range of global document types.

Age estimation

Age estimation technology is used across a growing range of contexts, from online age assurance to border control. As regulatory frameworks evolve and use cases diversify, independent evaluation of accuracy, fairness, security and reliability is increasingly important. Our age estimation testing assesses how systems perform across demographic variables, regulatory requirements, and real-world conditions.

Security is not the only measure that matters

For many organisations deploying identity technology, the question is not only whether a system is secure, but whether it performs accurately, equitably, and consistently across the full range of people and conditions it will encounter in the real world..

Ingenium’s testing provides performance and bias measurement assessments that evaluate how systems behave across different demographics, operating environments, and use case requirements. These assessments are designed to help organisations identify performance limitations before they become operational, reputational, or regulatory problems.

Independent, structured, and built around your objectives

Every engagement begins with a detailed discovery process to understand your systems, your objectives, and the regulatory or market context in which you operate. From there, we design a testing programme tailored to your specific situation, not a generic checklist.

Our work is accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 (test laboratory competency), and our testing programmes are aligned to internationally recognised standards including (but not limited to) ISO/IEC 30107, ISO/IEC 19795, FIDO Alliance’s biometrics and remote identity verification standards,  ISO/IEC 19989, ISO/IEC 29794, ISO/IEC 19794 and CEN/TS 18099. Our team holds deep institutional experience across government, national security, and standards bodies, which informs both the rigour of our methodology and the usefulness of our reporting.

Testing that serves the full ecosystem

Organisations deploying biometric systems

Independent testing tells you whether the system you’ve implemented performs as promised, where your exposure lies, and what it would take to close the gaps.

Technology vendors

Third-party validation gives your clients something most vendors cannot offer: verified, impartial evidence of how your product performs. That evidence strengthens procurement applications, regulatory submissions, and market credibility.

Regulators and standards bodies

We provide the technical depth and independence that supports informed policy development, standard-setting, and oversight of identity technology markets.

Not sure which service fits your situation? Start with a conversation.

Whether you’re evaluating a system, preparing for regulatory scrutiny, or looking to differentiate your product through independent evidence, we provide the testing, expertise, and reporting to get you there.
