Register interest in participating in biometrics fairness and security research
The use of biometric systems is growing and ensuring these systems are both free from bias and secure is critical for their responsible use. In support of this goal we conduct ongoing research into the fairness and security of biometric systems. This research is conducted through both data collection exercises and live testing of biometric systems. We are looking for individuals interested in participating in our research.
During data collection exercises, we collect anonymised information to help understand how secure a biometric product is. Data provided remains anonymous and is securely stored. The data retention period will vary by research initiative, however participants can request to have their data withdrawn at any time. Participants will provide anonymous information which we will use to help us understand if the system is susceptible to attacks.
During live testing exercises we collect information to help understand how a biometric product works in real life. Data provided remains anonymous and is securely stored. The data retention period will vary by research initiatives, however, participants can request to have their data withdrawn at any time. Participants will interact with the biometric system to help us understand how well the system works. If there are any areas where the performance of the biometric system is not as expected, this test will help us understand why, what may have caused it and how the system might be improved.
Who we are
This research initiative is hosted by Ingenium Biometric Laboratories. We are an independent research and development laboratory, focussed on ensuring that biometric technologies are accurate, secure and deployed safely. We do not make biometric technologies, we test them.
